Classes

In the Philadelphia area I teach at the Country Quilt Shop in Montgomeryville, Pennsylvania. A listing of the shop's classes, including my current schedule, may be found at the Country Quilt Shop web site.

If you are interested in taking or sponsoring a class or workshop in or out of the Philadelphia area, please contact me. The following are some of the classes I teach.

Stenciling on Fabric	Learn how to cut a stencil and then use oil-based stencil crayons and soft brushes to paint the design on cotton fabric. The class sponsor may select one of 2 designs: a Spring wreath, or an Autumn apple basket. 6 hours
Machine Quilting Made Easy	An in-depth class in beginning and advanced  machine quilting techniques, using a variety of threads and techniques, including use of the walking or even feed foot, free motion quilting,and use of those tricky decorative threads. Two 5 hour sessions
Trapunto by Machine	A quick and painless way to get evenly stuffed  motifs without cutting the back of your quilt. In class you will make a series of small exercises to help you get familiar with the process, then trapunto a pillow top to take home to finish.  Some previous experience with free motion sewing will make this class more satisfying. 6 hours
Marketing Your Art and Craft Work	If you are thinking of selling your creative fabric items, take this class first.  You will learn how to determine the best price for your work, the best place to sell your work, and the hidden costs we always underestimate when moving from a hobby to a business.   We will also look at copyright issues, business licenses, keeping track of expenses and reporting your earnings. 3 to 4 hours
Stippling and Beyond	Explore your free motion machine quilting skills while discovering many new designs and doodles for adding texture and interest to the quilt surface.  Bring your sewing machine and imagination.   This is not a beginner class -- you must have had a prior class in machine quilting techniques. 4 or 6 hours
Landscapes	Design your own lovely landscape -- or seascape -- in this two session workshop.  Sherri will help you select fabric for your individual landscape and guide you through the basic layout and assembly in the first session.  In the second session, you will use a variety of decorative threads to enhamce your design with free motion quilting.
